The Conservatorio de Música del Estado de Puebla is a government-supported-institution. The support comes through the Department of Education (“Secretaría de Educación Pública”).

The Conservatorio currently gives musical education in three levels:
a)Beginning
b)Preparatory
c)Bachelor Degree

The latter mentioned level is focused in preparing professionals with one of the following specialties: Piano, singing, guitar, cello, violin, sax, trumpet, oboe, clarinet, flute and horn.

Beginning and Preparatory levels are currently taught in the Central building and in five extensions located in small counties around the state. Bachelor degree is only taught in the Central building.

We are committed to improve the level of preparation of the students in our institution and our project’s vision involves the goal of obtaining an international quality level.

There are 1503 students currently enrolled in our courses, they are distributed as follows:

Beginning level: 1152
Preparatory level: 350
Bachelor degree: 72

Strengths and weaknesses: The quantity and quality of our students as well as the opportunity of having a Symphonic Orchestra and an Assemble Group of young students are the strengths of our institution. Our weaknesses, regarding the material structure, are the lack of musical instruments and facilities as well the low economic status of our students in addition to the low budget we are assigned from the government, which is mainly used to pay salaries.

Goals: Regarding the operation, we are in the stage of prospective planning which contains four main objectives:
1.Instructors updating.
2.Encouraging musical education in vocals and choral and orchestral direction with the goal to become the best institution in the country in such areas.
3.Reviewing and improving the current study structure so as to create the Professional Degree of Musical Education.
4.Strengthening the preparation of our students by giving them undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Actions: There is a wide variety of actions throughout our state that are being carried out by our institution with great support from our authorities. Notwithstanding our efforts and the support we are receiving, we know that under the prevailing conditions, we will never be able to reach our goals without the support from abroad, especially from institutions with wide experience and high quality in musical education.

Support: Taking into consideration the aspects previously mentioned, we are very excited to consider the possibility of receiving support from you, which may focus in:
a)Courses for instructors of vocals and direction of choirs and orchestra.
b)Advise to develop the Professional Degree of Musical Education.
c)Scholarships for various studies such as: Musical performance, Bachelor degrees and Master degrees.

The activities mentioned in the prior paragraph could be carried out at any time during the year, either during ordinary period or during summer courses.
